The last of the Giulietta-shaped spiders
The Giulia Spider took Pininfarina's exquisite open two-seater body and gave it the car it had always deserved: Alfa Romeo's 1,570 cc all-alloy twin-cam, a five-speed gearbox and disc brakes at the front. Built from 1962 to 1965, it is the 101-series spider — outwardly familiar, mechanically a generation on.
It was offered in two states of tune: the Normale on a single carburettor at roughly 92 bhp, and the Veloce on twin Webers at roughly 112 bhp, identified by the raised bonnet scoop. It was also the end of a line — the last of the Giulietta-derived spiders before the Duetto of 1966 replaced the shape entirely.

Normale

Veloce

The quicker Giulia Spider: the same 1,570 cc twin-cam breathing through twin Weber carburettors for roughly 112 bhp, identified externally by the raised bonnet scoop needed to clear them.

A rare right-hand-drive UK car in its original Hawthorn White, studied and photographed by kind permission of its owner. Built in Milan and delivered to London in 1964, it survived the rust that claims most Giulia Spiders thanks to decades in the dry Canary Islands, and was restored in the UK.
