The car
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider (101 Series)
Pininfarina's open two-seater, rebuilt around Alfa Romeo's 1,570 cc Giulia twin-cam and built from 1962 to 1965.
In June 1962 Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia Spider, developing the Pininfarina-bodied Giulietta Spider around the new 1,570 cc Giulia twin-cam and a five-speed gearbox. The bodies were designed and built by Pininfarina in Turin; the cars were assembled by Alfa Romeo in Milan.
The larger 1600 engine lifted the twin-cam's output from around 80 to about 92 bhp in Normale form, with smoother, less fussy delivery and a top speed near 109 mph — and it came with front disc brakes and a five-speed gearbox as standard.
The Veloce added twin Weber carburettors and hotter camshafts for roughly 112 bhp, and wore a raised bonnet scoop to clear the taller engine — the visual giveaway that distinguishes a Giulia from the earlier 1300 Giulietta Spider.
It was the last of the Giulietta-derived Pininfarina spiders, built through to 1965 as the all-new Duetto Spider was readied for 1966.
Right-hand-drive "guida a destra" cars were built in far smaller numbers than left-hand-drive, making a UK-market RHD Giulia Spider comparatively rare.

The variants
Normale & Veloce

Normale
1,570 cc · ≈92 bhp
The standard Giulia Spider: the 1,570 cc twin-cam fed by a single carburettor, roughly 92 bhp, with the five-speed gearbox and front disc brakes that set the 101-series apart from the Giulietta spiders before it.

Veloce
1,570 cc · ≈112 bhp
The quicker Giulia Spider: the same 1,570 cc twin-cam breathing through twin Weber carburettors for roughly 112 bhp, identified externally by the raised bonnet scoop needed to clear them.
